Dr. Steven Rueda is one of the most sought after breast lift surgeons in Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Wellington and Jupiter. His attention to detail and methodical technique create beautiful and natural results. A breast lift allows woman to enjoy perkier and more youthful breasts. A droopy breast results from a combination of factors; most common causes include weakened or stretched skin, replacement of gland tissue for fatty tissue, and fluctuations in breast size that reduce the volume of the breast. Breast lift surgery corrects droopy breasts by tightening the skin of the breast, repositioning of the gland tissue, and in some cases increasing breast volume by placement of an implant. Dr. Rueda uses a combination of all these techniques to give his patients a younger and fuller breast.
BREAST LIFT PROCEDURE
All types of breast lift surgery correct a droopy appearance by tightening the skin, increasing breast size with implants, repositioning the breast gland, or a combination of all the above. The more droopy the breast looks, the more likely it has excess skin and therefore needs larger incisions to correct its appearance. On the other hand, breasts that are not very droopy can be corrected by placement of an implant and a small hidden incision.
Dr. Rueda performs four types of breast lift techniques: Nipple lift, implant lift, lollipop lift, full breast lift. A lollipop lift is also known as a vertical mastopexy. A full breast lift is also known as a wise-pattern mastopexy. Their differences are highlighted below:
Incisions
(All of the incisions are well concealed by a regular bra) Made and hidden around the lower border of the areola.
Ideal Candidates
Woman with droopy nipples but ideal breast gland position.
Incisions
(All of the incisions are well concealed by a regular bra) Made and hidden at the lower crease of the breast, known as the inframammary fold.
Ideal Candidates
Woman with mild droopy appearance of the entire breast.
Incisions
(All of the incisions are well concealed by a regular bra) Made and hidden around the border of the areola, with a vertical extension on the breast mount.
Ideal Candidates
Woman with droopy breast and moderate amount of excess skin; implant can be added to give larger volume.
Incisions
(All of the incisions are well concealed by a regular bra) Same as a lollipop lift, but there is an additional hidden horizontal incision at the lower breast crease.
Ideal Candidates
Woman with droopy breast and large amount of excess skin; implant can be added to give larger volume.

Patients with droopy breast or nipples are ideal candidates for the procedure. The specific type of breast lift needed depends on many factors including skin excess and breast size desired. Dr. Rueda will guide you through the decision making process to obtain an excellent result.
Breast lift surgery involves a tradeoff between obtaining an ideal shape in exchange of incisions. The incisions around the areola and the lower breast fold are very well hidden and concealed. The vertical incision that is required in a lollipop or full breast lift procedure is usually more visible. The majority of the patients are very happy with their results if their main concern is obtaining a fuller perkier breast, and they understand the tradeoff that needs to be made.
Most patients seeking breast lift surgery are ages 25-45 years of age. This is a reflection of woman who find the need to achieve a fuller and perkier breast after childbirth. However, woman of all ages can obtain improvement in their breast appearance with breast lift.
Breast lift surgery is typically performed with general anesthesia for patient’s comfort. This requires that the patient has a friend or family member that can drive them to and from our office where the surgery is performed.

Yes! In fact many patients choose to have liposuction along with breast lift surgery. It can be combined safely and with great results.
Breast lift surgery can last permanently, however, it does not stop the aging of the breast. In those patient’s whose tissue continues to stretch with age, drooping may return but will be less than they would have experienced without a prior lift. This is known as “bottoming out”, and in those few patients that this occurs a secondary breast lift is a good alternative.
