- Dr Chiang performs dermatology surgery to treat many types of skin cancers including squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma and melanoma in- situ. The type of surgical procedure required depends on the type, location, and size of the skin cancer. Examples of common surgical treatments for skin cancers include excision and ED&C (electrodessication and curettage).
- Certain types of skin cancers like invasive melanoma will require referral to our in-house plastic surgeon or general surgeon for wide local excision and possible sentinel lymph node biopsy/dissection.
- Skin cancers of the head, neck, hands, feet, and genitals need CCPDMA surgery. CCPDMA stands for “Complete circumferential peripheral and deep margin assessment”. There are two types of CCPDMA surgery: Mohs surgery or surgical excision coupled with margin assessment. At Precision Dermatology, we offer the latter because we feel that the best results come from bringing in the top specialists in surgery and in pathology. On surgery day, you’ll have two specialists working on your case- a plastic surgeon who does the excision and closure, and a pathologist who does the tissue margin assessment. It doesn’t get better than this.
