Sunspots & Pigment Problems

Brown spots on the face and body can be benign entities like lentigos, moles, and seborrheic keratoses,  but can also be skin cancers like melanoma and pigmented basal cell carcinoma. It is important to correctly diagnose pigmented lesions before cosmetically treating them! Prior to treating a pigmented lesion, Dr. Chiang will examine the area with a specialized tool called a dermatoscope to make sure the lesion is indeed benign. Once it is determined that the spot is benign, there are many treatments available. These include sun protection, liquid nitrogen, topical lightening agents, localized chemical peels, lasers, and surgery. Your treatment will be tailored to your lesion type, skin type, location, and goals.
